Remains of the Dutovlje-Povir railway
Remains of the railway can be found in the west of the village. You can reach them by walking from the village square through the lower village, past the old well, and continuing along the alley. The paved road soon descends steeply and you leave houses behind you and reach beautiful vineyards. After about 300 metres, you reach the stone bridge across the railway. Continue along the steep path downwards and you will reach the first construction after a few metres.
This concrete construction is six metres long and seven metres high, featuring half a metre thick walls. Some sources say that this was the end of a rail track, while others state that it was used as a temporary storage of weapons during loading and unloading. A similar shelter can be found a hundred metres to the east. It can be reached by a path along a stone wall, which was used as a reloading ramp for the military railway, which branched off of the main Vienna–Ljubljana–Trieste route in Britof at Povirje, crossed the Jesenice–Gorica–Trieste route in front of Kreplje and joined this route at the guardhouse. The military railway ended at the Dutovlje/Skopo station and was 12.5 km long.
The remains of reloading ramps can still be seen today in several locations.
