Village cemetery
The village cemetery is located next to the road from Dutovlje to Repentabor, about one kilometre from the village centre.
Until 1851, the cemetery covered the area between the church and the church walls. But at that time, cholera was rampant and the cemetery could no longer be expanded, so the village decided to build a new cemetery. The selected location is the closest to all the three villages that use it, namely Dutovlje, Godnje and Kreplje. The soil for the cemetery was brought from the Velika lokovca (the Large Pond) and Tugovnik. The first funeral in the new cemetery took place on 14 August 1851. The large stone cross along the main path through the cemetery is inscribed with the year 1843, which means that it was relocated from the old cemetery at the church. In 1988, the cemetery was renovated and expanded. In the next year, the new funeral home was built on the platform in front of the cemetery entrance. |
In addition to the memorial to unknown heroes of the National Liberation War, you can also visit the graves of Lovro Žvab, the cultural and historical publisher, and the athlete Danilo Žerjal.
