Road towards Repentabor
The road starts in Opčine, where we branch off of Dunajska cesta/Strada per Vienna. It first runs along the Repentabor cesta/Via di Monrupino marked with SP 9 (country road no. 9). After coming to Col, the road continues to the Repentabor border crossing where it crosses the border with Slovenia and is marked as road 619. It continues through Dol pri Vogljah, across the Prelovec pass and down towards Kreplje. After 11 kilometres, it reaches Dutovlje, where the road ends in the village centre at the National Liberation Movement memorial and the crossroads with road 204.
Our walking route includes a part of this road, starting with the crossroads with the cart track between the military and the village cemeteries. We walk along road 619 for about a kilometre, climbing towards Dutovlje.

After World War I, the Province of Trieste took over road maintenance. It straightened a few slopes, filled some lower areas and removed many bends. This is how the route for the road was prepared, which was built and asphalted in 1931. The credit for this project goes mostly to Božidar Kompar from Kreplje who was one of the administrative members of the Province of Trieste. The road was asphalted from Opčine to the Dutovlje cemetery. The last kilometre towards the village centre remained unpaved.
A major accident happened during blasting and Anton Tavčar from Kreplje died in the Trieste hospital due to serious injuries. A memorial stone can still be found at the place of the accident.
