The Krasoprema furniture factory
The factory is located at the end of the village along the Sežana–Nova Gorica main road, next to the railway station.
In September 1947, our area was annexed to Yugoslavia. The border that was drawn up unfairly at the time cut us off from Trieste and its surroundings. From an economic point of view, this presented a significant problem because farmers lost the market for the sale of their crops and vegetables, while workers lost employment in Trieste, Opčine and Nabrežina. They were mostly carpenters that helped reconstruct the homeland after World War II. As soon as zone A was established, the workers wanted to organize an independent workshop. In Sežana, they were advised to join the existing Divača Carpentry, which has been operating since 1947. The Dutovlje carpenters started working in October 1947 in village barns and large rooms. All this led up to the establishment of the Krasoprema factory, because the number of carpenters grew each year. Soon, they wanted to join under one roof and construction of the factory began in 1952. It was located next to the train station, which facilitated the delivery of materials and the transport of finished products. The construction of the factory took a lot of time, but all the carpenters could finally leave the village barns and move to the new location in 1960. This factory was a lot smaller than the one you can see today. Next year, the management from Divača also moved to Dutovlje and the entire operation was renamed to Krasoprema. There was a fire in the Divača factory a few years after that and all the workers from Divača moved to work in Dutovlje. Over the years, the factory developed in terms of technology and facilities. One of the largest investments happened in 1988 with the construction of a paint shop that is still operating today.

Article in the magazine Slovenski Jadran (8 September 1961, Year 10, no. 37)
THE DIVAČA CARPENTRY NOW "Krasoprema" Dutovlje at Sežana
The Carpentry company in Divača was created from a few carpentry shops in Karst. The company slowly developed into a small industrial company in the field of carpentry. For this purpose, larger facilities were built next to the railway station in Dutovlje, with most of production being transferred to this location. With this, the company headquarters needed to be relocated to Dutovlje and the company was renamed from Mizarstvo Divača to Podjetje za izdelavo vseh vrst pohištva Dutovlje or Krasoprema Dutovlje in short. The company still has a workshop in Divača. It grows organically and numerous qualified local carpenters are employed there.
