Presentation of the Teran circular walking route
The Teran circular walking route starts in the village square in front of the Bunčetovi Homestead, a renovated building used by the locals. We head to the lower village where we can enjoy the view of the surrounding vineyards as well as the hills and mountains to the north. Especially in autumn, it seems as if the most creative artist played with warm shades to paint the vine leaves.
We make a short stop at the Polhovi Homestead – a typical Karst house featuring stone trims (“jrte”) around windows and doors, a real Karst courtyard (“borjač”) surrounded by a high dry wall and a stone portal (“kalona”) with large double doors. Typical Karst wells (“štirna”), throughs, ponds and signposts are also interesting.
After leaving the village, the circular route takes us to the bridge that crosses the Bohinj route, a part of the Transalpina railway that connected the Czech lands with Trieste. We soon come across the Klariči–Sežana water supply route and walk along the historical Maria Theresa road that was a significant trade route, connecting Karst villages and shortening the route to Trieste.
Along the route, we stop at the memorials from World War I and World War II, the St. Roch shrine and the shrine in front of the church. You should also visit the village church that is dedicated to St. George.
After the pleasant 7 km walk, we return to the village square, finishing our exploration of Karst.
